Android Engineer Devlog


This is a project I started back in 2021. I abandoned it a long time ago, but I felt inspired to finish it.

The core mechanics of the game were done already. Basically it's a remake of the Konami classic "Comic Bakery" which I used to play on MSX as a kid back in the eighties.

In this game you keep an automated military android production line running, while being annoyed by super charged cyber bugs. At first the enemies only spawned left and right outside the room. Also there was no difficulty curve in the game. I felt I had to change those things in order to make the game more engaging.

Here's what I've changed so far:

- Made minimum targets for each stage. There are 4 stages. After completing the 4th stage you win the game, but you can start over with increased targets for the stages.

- Added increasing difficulty for each new stage. 2nd stage now has enemies coming from the ceiling. 3rd and 4th stage has enemies coming from the floor grates. The first stage remains rather easy, but for the other stages the difficulty ramps up quite a bit.

- perfected the game-over screen and stage-end / game-end screens.

- added more music. Each stage now has its own music.

- Reworked background to make it look more interesting and fitting with cables and oil pools on the floor.

- Various bug fixes

I would be interested to hear what you think of this game, and how I could improve it.
